Building production software
Independent full-stack engineering, followed by enterprise applications and applied AI systems.
THE PERSON BEHIND THE WORK
Researcher. Engineer. Filmmaker. Author.

A CONNECTED PRACTICE
Richard Everts works across research, production engineering, and public storytelling. He has built software professionally since 2010, with experience in Python, full-stack applications, computer vision, retrieval systems, and agent orchestration. At Deep SIML Labs, his work investigates simulation, cognitive systems, and the relationship between models and the physical world. He also publishes as The Operator. At Bestie Bot, he combined engineering leadership with research into assistive technology and multimodal sensing, including a PennAITech-supported home-monitoring pilot. Beyond engineering, he directed, produced, and edited The United States of Autism, a documentary following families across America. His books explore personal fulfillment and political possibility. A philosophy graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, he brings questions about minds, agency, and lived experience into both technical and creative work.
The thread running through this work is human agency: how people understand the world, how systems can help, and where the decisions still belong to us. An engineering project, a film, and a book can be different ways of investigating that same thread.
I publish as Richard Everts, Rich Everts, Richard C. Everts, and The Operator. This site brings that record together, with links to the original work and the people involved.
